    DECLARATION REGARDING THE REPUBLIC OF GUINEA-CONAKRY

   

   

   

   

    The Government of the Republic of Angola, in strict respect with the International Law, expresses its deep concern over the current crisis of the Republic of Guinea-Conakry and condemns the events that took place on September the 28th which caused the loss of many lives and seriously affected national coexistence.

   

    Repudiates the use of violence as a mean of resolving national problems.

   

    Calls for restraint, rational and pragmatic dialogue as the most appropriate way for the agreement between the Military junta, political parties and civil society organizations, in order to define a period of realistic political transition to be exercised with security and stability, under the authority of the Head of State, by an inclusive Government of National Unity to ensure the protection of citizens and of their rights and freedom. Also to create the conditions for the holding of multiparty, free, fair and transparent elections, ensure the political and constitutional standards and the establishment of the democratic State Law in the country.

   

    Considers appropriate that this pragmatic solution to be found by the Guinean should be implemented with the support and assistance of the international community, in particular the African Union.

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

    The Government of the Republic of Angola encourages CDEAO to continue its mediation efforts in Guinea Conakry in order to resolve the crisis.
